Home Computing

Computer security is important when at home as well as at the workplace. Follow the same guidelines listed in on the Desktops and Laptops section. There are also other things you can do to secure your home computer.
  • Be sure to secure your wireless router.
    • Use encryption on your wireless.
    • IT Security recommends you use the highest encryption available on your wireless router. This setting should be WPA2. If this setting is not available, use WPA. Do not use WEP to protect your wireless network becasue it is unsafe and very easily cracked. Use these guides to secure popular wireless routers:
